TCC presents Figaro! A Night at the Opera
The Turtle Creek Chorale’s 30th Anniversary Season continues with FIGARO! A NIGHT AT THE OPERA Sunday, March 28th at 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, March 31st at 8:00 p.m. at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. Let the men of the Turtle Creek Chorale transport you to the bullrings of Spain with Bizet’s famous Toreador Song from his opera, Carmen. Then, put on your boots and enjoy the raucous sounds of Copland’s Stomp Your Foot, featuring award-winning dancers from Dallas’ Round Up Saloon. Also, don’t forget to bring your hard hat, as hammers are sure to fly during Verdi’s famous Anvil Chorus. White handkerchiefs are also a must, as we perform perhaps the most beloved aria of all, Puccini’s Nessun Dorma.
This program also features choruses by Verdi, Mozart, Saint-Saëns, Gershwin and just a touch of Gilbert and Sullivan.
Joining Turtle Creek Chorale on this concert series is Dallas’ own New Texas Symphony Orchestra, Kathryn D. Brown, Conductor, and three vocal students from Texas Christian University’s School of Music: Vanessa Becerra, William Mattox and Ekaterina Stetsyuk.
Turtle Creek Chorale Artistic Director Jonathan Palant says, “For the first time in eleven years, the Chorale presents a concert of opera choruses. If ever there were music meant for a men’s chorus, this is it. Our lush, warm sound just embraces the senses. It’s like getting a musical hug!”
Tickets range from $20-65 and may be purchased in person at the Turtle Creek Chorale office at the Sammons Center for the Arts, 3630 Harry Hines Boulevard, Suite #306, Dallas, Texas 75219, by phone at (214) 526-3214 or online at www.turtlecreek.org.
