INTRODUCTORY NOTES

ONE WORLD - Mark Hayes

One world, that is what I dream of,
One world, where everything is light.
One world, I can live in where all is right.

One people, standing by each other,
United, they will become strong,
Blending all their voices in one song.

I want this world to be a place of harmony,
Where love abounds and hope is found,
And music rings the whole world round.

What a wonder this one world could be.

I wonder if I can make a difference?
Can one man really make a change?
Can one flame pierce the darkness and light the way?

If love can join two perfect strangers,
Then I can learn to be your friend.
Imagine such a future, one day.

Come with me, to a place of perfect harmony,
Spirit is calling, calling us all together.

One world, that is what I dream of,
One world, where everything is light.
One world, I can live in where all is right.

One people, standing by each other,
United, they will become strong,
Blending all their voices in one song at one time for one world.

The musical journey of the Turtle Creek Chorale is a wide and varied one, including live performances across our nation and farther, recordings, radio, television and, of course, the Internet.

Some of the most exciting aspects of our journey have included appearances before our peers at choral gatherings. We have now appeared by invitation at two national, two regional and two state conventions of the ACDA, American Choral Directors Association and soon, a regional MENC, Music Educator's National Conference. We have performed at four national choral festivals of GALA, The Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses. The challenges these appearances bring are far beyond just quality singing, but interesting and innovative programming as well.

This CD is the result of just such an appearance. The people of the Midwest, specifically Iowa and Minnesota, opened their arms and cornfields to our music. The program represents a variety of styles from Handel to Sondheim. Unlike many of our recordings, there is no theme that runs throughout the repertoire. Imagine you are in a concert hall listening to the TCC in live performance, just piano and 200 voices…no intermission.

We hope you enjoy the concert. This is one you can enjoy over and over. But there is no one in the next seat bothering you by talking, getting up or answering a cell phone! This recording is THE NEXT BEST THING TO BEING THERE.

Thank you for listening.

Tim
