INTRODUCTORY NOTES

“A Fond Farewell” is a very personal look back at the 20 years of artistic direction by Dr. Timothy Seelig. The final concert under his leadership took place on July 8, 2007. Five world premier pieces were composed for that concert and are included along with several newly-recorded pieces from that evening. The remainder of the recording is devoted to favorites from the past. The first disc features the grand and glorious music from the two decades, including the very first piece the men of the TCC ever sang: “The Last Words of David”. The second is more thoughtful and meditative and includes many of the solos Dr. Seelig has recorded throughout his tenure with the chorus. It takes the listener on a journey from “Lullaby” to “Requiem.”

In addition to the Turtle Creek Chorale, the discs include performances by The Women’s Chorus of Dallas, One Achord, Tesoro, New Texas Symphony Orchestra, Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and the Lay Family Organ. The recording also features the piano artistry of our beloved Anne Albritton as well as Antoine Spencer, Danny Ray and Terry Dobson.
