Q. What is the Turtle Creek Chorale?
A. The Turtle Creek Chorale's 2009-2010 Season marks its 30th Anniversary. With over 150 singing members, the Chorale presents a full subscription concert series performing annually to live audiences in excess of 50,000. All members of the Chorale are dues paying volunteers who donate over 100,000 hours to rehearsals, service projects and as many as 50 benefit performances annually. The TCC currently has four sub groups: Chamber Chorus; ENCORE!; New Texas Symphony Orchestra; and the Turtle Creek Strangerettes, a precision dance team.
The Chorale currently has 36 CDs in addition to a variety of DVDs in its library. Performances by the Chorale have included two state, two regional and three national conventions of the American Choral Directors Association as well as a regional convention of Music Educators National Conference. The Chorale has traveled to Europe, performing sold out concerts in Barcelona, Berlin and Prague; as well as two appearances a Carnegie Hall. In 2010, the Chorale will return to Spain again for a week long tour.

Q. Where are the concerts?
A. During the 2009-2010 Season, the TCC performances will be held at the following locations:
Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center (our home performance hall), located at 2301 Flora Street in the downtown Dallas Arts District
Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House, AT&T Performing Arts Center, located at 2100 Ross Avenue in the downtown Dallas Arts District

Q. Who are the members of the organization?
A. The TCC, an arts organization, has an open-door policy, respectful of diversity and welcoming to all in the greater Dallas community who have a love of chorale music and wish to audition
Q. How big is the Turtle Creek Chorale?
A. Singing membership in the Turtle Creek Chorale is over 150 members.
Q. Are there small performing groups within the Chorale?
A. In addition to the entire chorus of over 150 singers, the Turtle Creek Chorale has several small groups. These groups perform at local and national venues where it would not be physically possible or practical to bring the entire membership.
Chamber Chorus is a group of 60 men who perform a classical repertoire similar to that of the entire chorus.
ENCORE! is a group of 16 performing a pop repertoire.
North Texas Symphony Orchestra (NTSO) gives performers and audiences a new opportunity to enjoy playing and hearing some of the world's best classical music - both traditional and contemporary.
The Strangerettes are a cheerleading-style drill team.
Q. Does the Turtle Creek Chorale have a CD?
A. The Turtle Creek Chorale currently has 37 recordings. The CD's liner pages and music samples are available in the music section of the site. The recordings encompass a wide range in music including classical, broadway, holiday and camp.
Q. Do you take donations?
A. The Turtle Creek Chorale is a 501(c)3 non-profit arts organization. As such the organization may receive tax deductible donations. Many programs exist for donating cash and/or services to the organization. For information on making a donation to the organization, please contact the TCC office at 214-526-3214.
Q. Will the Chorale sing for me or my organization?
A. The Chorale is open to invitations to sing for audiences around the world. As a volunteer chorus our available performance time is limited and our calendar fills up quickly each year. For information on booking the chorus or one of the small groups please contact the office at 214-526-3214 x101

Q. Does the Turtle Creek Chorale tour?
A. The Turtle Creek Chorale is available to perform world-wide when afforded the invitation. As an all volunteer chorus, the Chorale has limited financial resources to make such ventures. The Chorale has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City (1994 & 2002), for the American Choral Directors Association in San Antonio (1993 & 2002) and in San Diego (1997), and completed a European tour performing in Barcelona, Berlin and Prague (1995). In addition, the Chorale has performed at four Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses (GALA Choruses) Festivals. In July of 2001, the Chorale performed at the Iowa Choral Directors Association Symposium and with the Twin Cities Gay Men's Chorus in Minneapolis.
In 2010, the TCC is planning to return to Spain for a 10 day tour.

Q. Do you have to sing to join the Turtle Creek Chorale?
A. A special class of membership has been created to allow "non-singers" to be a part of the Turtle Creek Chorale. Associate members assist the organization in a wide range of activities including performance and administrative support.
Q. How do I join as a singing member?
A. Auditions are held each August and January for singing members. Prospective members are required to sing a published piece of music of their choice. For additional information contact the office at 214-526-3214 ext 101.

Q. Do you have to read music to be a singing member?
A. Singing members do not have to read music to join the Turtle Creek Chorale. The Chorale asks that all members have a commitment to the mission of the organization and the desire to perform.
Q. Are the singers professionals?
A. All of the singers in the Turtle Creek Chorale are volunteers and receive no compensation for their participation in the chorus. The members come from all professions and walks of life - lawyers, bankers, sales, teachers, administrators, hair dressers, and students. Some members of the Chorale have received professional music training and some are by vocation working within the professional and/or educational music world.
Q. Are the singers paid to perform?
A. All of the singers in the Turtle Creek Chorale are volunteers and receive no individual payment for their participation. It is estimated that singing members donate more than 100,000 volunteer hours per year.

Q. Can I advertise to the members of the Turtle Creek Chorale?
A. Advertising opportunities are available in the programs distributed to each patron at the season concerts. Direct solicitations to the membership or the member mailing list is not permitted
