DR. DAWSON TAYLOR
Dr. Dawson Taylor,
Dr. Dawson B. Taylor joined the Turtle Creek Chorale family as a singing member in August of 2006 and was elected to the Board of Directors in August of 2007. Dr. Taylor was elected to his second term on the board at the same time he was elected chairman in August of 2010 and re-elected chairman for the 2011-2012 season.
In his professional life, Dr. Dawson Taylor serves as Executive Minister of the Cathedral of Hope United Church of Christ. The Cathedral of Hope is the world?¢‚Ç¨‚Ñ¢s largest liberal Christian church with a primary outreach to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. In his duties as Executive Minister, Dawson preaches the weekly contemporary worship service and oversees the day-to-day ministry and worship of the church.
Dawson received his Bachelor?¢‚Ç¨‚Ñ¢s degree in political science from Centenary College of Louisiana where he sang in the Centenary College Choir, served as student body president for two years as well as serving internships in the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate. In 2006, Dawson received his Master of Theological Studies from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. Currently, Rev. Taylor is pursuing his doctorate through Chicago Theological Seminary.
In addition to the Turtle Creek Chorale, Dr. Taylor currently serves on the board of the Office of Communications, Inc. of the United Church of Christ .
